There is just something so special about transforming a space where so many memories are made… and today I am sharing our kitchen renovation with you!
This project was such a labor of love, and seeing it come together was truly worth every step.
The Before
Let’s start with where we began…
Our kitchen was filled with dark wood cabinetry, yellow tile, and matching countertops that made the space feel heavy and closed in. The eat-in area right off the kitchen was covered in wood paneling, which added to the darker feel and made the whole space feel smaller than it really was.
While it had charm, it just didn’t reflect the light, airy feel we wanted for our home.
The Vision
From the very beginning, we knew we wanted to create a space that felt:
- Bright and open
- Warm and inviting
- Timeless with a touch of charm
We focused on lightening everything up and making the kitchen feel like a natural extension of the rest of our home.
Let There Be Light
One of the biggest transformations in this renovation was how much brighter the space became.
By updating with cabinetry, surfaces, and finishes, we were able to completely change the feel of the room. The heavy, dark tones are now replaced with a soft, white palette that reflects light beautifully and makes the entire space feel bigger and more welcoming. We added the light wood island that really complemented the white.
Opening Up the View
Another favorite part of this renovation was reworking the window area.
We really wanted to highlight the view and bring more natural light into the space. Now, the window feels like a true focal point—bringing the outdoors in and adding so much more life to the kitchen.
We also added a chandelier to the space with small rattan shades that works well with the rest of the kitchen space.

A Custom Touch We Love
If there’s one detail that truly makes this kitchen feel like us, it’s the fixture over the island.
We had the lamp shades custom made, and they add the perfect soft, unique touch to the space. It’s one of those details that draws your eye right away but still blends beautifully with the overall design.

The After
I am so happy with the way our kitchen turned out. It’s brighter, lighter, and so much more functional for everyday life. Whether we’re cooking, gathering, or just enjoying a quiet morning, it feels like our space.
Final Thoughts
This renovation reminded me how much a space can truly impact your day-to-day life. By opening things up, bringing in light, and adding thoughtful details, we created a kitchen that feels both beautiful and comfortable.
It’s a space we love being in—and that’s exactly what we hoped for.
