Learn how to turn vintage inspired Easter bunny decor into a charming DIY lamp using a wooden dowel, spool, and battery light.

The Easter Bunny Before the DIY
There’s just something about vintage-inspired Easter and spring decor that makes my heart skip a beat. Soft pastels, tattered finishes, and charming little bunnies feel right at home here at My Little White Barn. (If you didn’t know ~ I love bunnies)
I found the cutest vintage-looking Easter Bunny at Hobby Lobby— and I instantly knew I wanted to turn it into something extra special. Instead of setting it on a shelf, I decided to give it new life as a sweet little lamp for spring.
And let me tell you… it might be one of my favorite DIYs yet.
The DIY Vision
The rabbit already had that old-world charm I love, but I wanted it to feel even more custom and cottage-inspired. My goal was to create a soft, glowy accent lamp that looked like a treasured decor item — something you might stumble upon in a quaint antique shop. I knew if I turned it into a lamp it would give that cozy feel to any room ~ and I was so happy how it turned out. Want to see how I made this Vintage Inspired Easter Bunny DIY? What I used to create the DIY
How I Made It
1. Paint & Prep
I found a dowel and wooden spool from the unfinished wood section at the craft store. First, I painted the wooden pieces white so everything would blend together. A soft, muted color helps create that timeless, vintage feel. Don’t worry about perfection — a little texture adds charm!
2. Create the Lamp Base
Next, I attached the wooden dowel between the rabbit’s ears using hot glue. Then, I secured the bottom of the dowel at the base of the basket (right on the back), attaching it to the wooden spool (with the spool facing upward). The spool acts as the platform for the light and gives the lamp its structure.
It’s such a simple setup, but it works perfectly!
3. Add the Light
I placed a small battery-operated puck light directly on top of the wooden spool. No wiring required — which makes this project incredibly easy and beginner-friendly.
4. Finish with a Lampshade
The final step was the easiest: I simply set a small lampshade that goes perfectly in my room right on top.
That’s it…..this Easter bunny turned into the coziest seasonal lamp.
Why I Love This DIY
- No electrical work required
- Budget-friendly
- Completely customizable ~ pick your spring decor (maybe something different then a bunny) and coordinated lamp shade and you have something that is uniquely you!
- Adds soft spring lighting to shelves, entry tables, or nightstands
- I can leave it out through the entire spring season.
Styling Ideas
This little Easter bunny lamp would be adorable:

- In your entry way ready to greet guests
