I have been working on my back porch all week, and I really mean all week. It was a mess. It is such a small area, and it honestly is the area that everyone walks through to get in the house. No one really uses our front door, everyone just walks to the back. Keeping that space pretty and functional has always been a challenge. I always seem to over clutter it…. see this next picture….yikes…
I told you it was bad. One of the big tasks, besides clearing up all of this stuff was to make use of the back wall. The wall with the stereo system, and the plug with all the cords showing….
I have had this shaker rack for a few months, and have been trying to think of where I could use it.
This one is from the Container Store, but I have since seen them at Walmart in the hardware department. They also have them on Amazon.
First I stained it the color I wanted it. Next I set out to find something big enough to cover that area of the wall, and hide those cords to put it on. My treasure hunting heart was very happy to find this adorable vintage door which I could lean against the wall and cover those ugly cords, while still being able to access the stereo. WIN WIN!
Because we have a pool, adding the shaker rack to the door allows it to be pretty and functional. Trust me when you have a pool there is never enough places to hang a towel. That may have been the easiest DIY I ever did!
Now off to finish cleaning up that porch! Happy Weekend!
